ABOUT MATT ULYATT

After over three years of distance learning, I\'m delighted to have graduated with Merit with an MA in Public Policy and Management from the University of York.I currently lead the financial accounts and systems team at Historic England, having responsibility for statutory accounting for all group entities (one NDPB, three charities, three companies), technical accounting and VAT advice, banking and treasury functions, financial systems update and maintenance and have recently taken on additional management accounts responsibilities. From July 2013-June 2014, I worked as the key driver in implementing a new ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics AX) for Hunting Energy Services (Well Intervention) Pte Ltd, training all staff in use and acting as the super-user for all aspects of the system from sales, through purchasing, production and finance. In addition, my role has also involved acting as the key finance liaison between Singapore and the UK and implementing more robust financial and process controls. From December 2011 to June 2013 I worked at English Heritage where I acted as their Senior Financial Accountant, managing the preparation of the financial accounts, leading the Financial Accounts team, managing joint projects with the DCMS, acting as a key point of contact for external and internal auditors, reviewing quarterly VAT returns (which for a complex partially exempt organisation is quite a task!).I qualified as a CIPFA accountant in 2007 and worked for PwC in Scotland and the West Midlands in their Public Sector Audit department from 2004 to 2011.
