My journey with Memphis Zoo began in 1995 as a zookeeper. Working closely with animals early in my career shaped my perspective on the critical role modern zoos play in wildlife conservation, animal welfare, education, and community connection. Over the years, I have had the privilege of growing alongside this institution and the extraordinary people who make it possible. From keepers and veterinarians to educators, horticulture teams, and operations staff, the success of Memphis Zoo has always been driven by passionate professionals dedicated to providing exceptional care for the animals who call our zoo home and meaningful experiences for the guests who visit us. Today, as President and CEO, I am proud to lead one of Memphis’ most beloved institutions and one of the region’s leading conservation organizations. Each year, Memphis Zoo connects more than a million guests with wildlife while supporting conservation efforts that protect species and habitats around the world. As we look toward the future, our focus is on strengthening Memphis Zoo’s role as a leader in animal care, conservation science, and community engagement. Our comprehensive campus plan represents an exciting next chapter. It will reimagine nearly half of the zoo’s footprint to enhance animal habitats, elevate guest experiences, and expand opportunities to inspire the next generation of conservation advocates. Memphis has always been home for me, and I firmly believe the zoo plays an important role in the cultural and civic life of our city. At its best, Memphis Zoo is more than a place to visit. It is a place where people connect with wildlife, experience wonder, and leave with a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
