About Matt Porter
Sergeant Matt Porter is a decorated Police Sergeant and an active Law Enforcement Special Operations Team Leader with over two thousand hours of documented leadership and high risk training to include multiple instructor certifications from The National Tactical Officers Association, Washington State Tactical Officers Association and The WA State Criminal Justice Training Commission. Matt developed the emotional intelligence (EI) curriculum for the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commissions mandated officer training. The EI material is delivered as part of the State\'s Patrol Tactics in-service training where Matt serves as a Master Instructor. He also currently teaches a variety of leadership and active threat response protocols to both Law Enforcement and civilian clients. Response protocol instruction ranges from Civilian Response to Active Shooter to Hostage Rescue/Counter-Terrorism for SWAT. Matt personally developed the Critical Incident Response System for his jurisdiction that integrates Police response with public and private civilian stakeholders to maximize public safety. Matt takes an integrated approach to high risk situations that encompasses de-escalation, trauma first-aid, evasion, hand-to-hand combat and a variety of lethal and less-lethal force applications. He has consulted with some of the worlds most high profile corporations and citizens on critical vulnerability assessments of facilities and security protocols. Matt is an accomplished speaker and regularly delivers lectures on use of force, legal issues, personal protection and leadership.
