ABOUT MATT MURDOCH

Matt Murdoch is a professional engineer, program management leader, and certified professional coach, with over 20 years’ experience in the software and space industries. As the Director of the Program Management Office at EarthDaily Analytics (EDA), he provides governance and strategic oversight for multiple projects and initiatives, including large-scale space programs, proposals with governments and multi-national partners, company security and risk management, and Agile software development. Matt also serves as EDA’s Deputy Program Manager for the EarthDaily Constellation, an advanced satellite constellation program that will provide a continuous stream of scientific-quality, analytics-ready Earth observation imagery to enable users to rapidly identify changes in the Earth’s surface. He is passionate about this work’s potential to strengthen Canada’s capacity for environmental monitoring, sustainable development, agriculture, and disaster management. Prior to joining EDA, Matt gained a broad range of experience leading teams in the fields of Earth imaging and satellite technologies (MDA Space, UrtheCast) and advanced surveillance and security controls (Avigilon). With software engineering, management, and business development experience in environments ranging from a relatively small tech start-up to an established multi-billion-dollar public company, Matt has developed a well-rounded perspective on what it takes for innovative technology-driven businesses to flourish. Matt is passionate about enabling others to succeed and building inclusive cultures. As a certified professional coach (Co-Active Training Institute: CPCC, International Coaching Federation: ACC), Matt founded EDA’s in-house coaching program in 2019, and volunteers as a career coach to non-profit leaders and students. He co-founded the EDA Employee Engagement Group to advance workplace improvement projects, and is a dedicated member of EDA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Matt is also committed to strengthening governance and innovation in the professional engineering community. He volunteers in industry leadership, serving as Vice Chair of the Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) High Technology Advisory Group and as a member of the EGBC Professional Practice Advisory Group. He has presented at EGBC conferences, co-led an EGBC AI webinar, and contributed to EGBC Innovations Magazine and journals.
