WORK HISTORY
Senior Manager System Development @FuelCell Energy
US
Held many different positions during my 42 years at FuelCell Energy, from manager of manufacturing in the early years for phosphoric acid fuel cells, to leading a small task force to design and build the first of a kind manufacturing facility for large scale Carbonate fuel cell components, and at that time most of the manufacturing processes and machines were developed by my group. Special process equipment was also designed in-house for Carbonate, Solid oxide, PEM, and Phosphoric Acid cell and stack manufacturing. Instrumental in getting Solid Oxide DOE SECA program, design and build for endothermically cooled cells and, presently working on producing hydrogen from molten carbonate fuel cell anode exhaust for export to H2 cars, and making Hydrogen using high temperature carbonate fuel cell running as a high temperature electrolyzer, reformer and purifier (REP) that has the potential of producing Hydrogen at 8kW/ Kg. These and other opportunities will allow a new method of producing bio-Hydrogen from natural gas or bio-gas in large quantities at prices competitive to Steam Methane Reforming. With the use of renewable power, it can then be renewable Hydrogen for use in cars, manufacturing, or Hydrogen for energy storage. This technology was proven in a DOE program at a level of 100KG/day, easily scalable up or down, even as low as a home fueler for Hydrogen fuel cell cars. By feeding CO2 and steam to this same carbonate stack running in reverse and using a lower voltage Bio-Methane can be produced, converting waste CO2 to a high value Bio-Methane product. See link to DOE Final REP me if you are interested in CO2 conversion to transportation fuels.
