   Mission: Global Health Labs (GH Labs) innovates to reduce health disparities, especially in low- and middle-income countries. As a nonprofit corporation fully funded by Gates Ventures (the private office of Bill Gates), we partner with the Gates Foundation and other cross-sector leaders to develop health technology solutions for the people who need them most.I lead a team specializing in research and development of optical and electronic diagnostic and sensor systems, many incorporating AI, for health and nutrition applications in low- and middle-income countries. Responsibilities include:• Project execution and communication with both internal and external stakeholders, including university and industry collaborators, global health providers and ministries of health, Bill Gates, the Gates Foundation, and Gates Ventures• Working with cross-functional teams across the product lifecycle, spanning from assessing the user needs and problems with existing solutions, to early stage innovation and requirements definition, and finally to field deployment with LMIC partners• Manage team of 4-6 direct reports and up to ~20 indirect reports at any given time• Technical efforts cover diverse range of topics including:(1) Understanding the basis for skin tone biases in pulse oximetry (2) Engineering of novel hardware for a point of care nucleic acid amplification test (3) Development and implementation of near-infrared spectroscopy-based medicine quality analysis system (4) Alternative microscopy formats and ML approaches for neglected tropical diseases (5) Understanding the challenges of noninvasive anemia detection (6) Exploring use of AI-enabled ultrasound and electrical impedance tomography for outlining uterine geometry as part of a potential pre-term labor monitoring tool
