Assist veterinarians by preparing examination and surgical rooms, arranging necessary tools, and managing animal behavior during check-ups and medical procedures to ensure smooth operations- Accurately measure and administer prescribed medications and vaccines via oral, intramuscular, or subcutaneous routes, following strict dosage and scheduling guidelines- Collect blood, urine, and tissue samples from animals. Perform tests such as complete blood counts, urinalysis, and parasite tests using laboratory equipment to help diagnose illnesses and monitor health- Safely use radiographic equipment to take x-rays of animals. Position animals correctly to capture clear diagnostic images, and process and evaluate the quality of radiographs- Prepare surgical sites by cleaning and shaving areas as needed. Sterilize all surgical instruments and ensure that all necessary supplies are available. Manage pre-surgical anesthesia to maintain animal comfort- Continuously monitor animals under anesthesia, checking vital signs like heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure. Adjust anesthesia levels as required to ensure animal safety during surgeries- Administer postoperative care, including wound cleaning and bandaging, administering post-surgery medications, and monitoring recovery. Provide ongoing care for sick or injured animals, including feeding, hydration, and comfort measures- Document all examinations, treatments, surgeries, and interactions with each animal, maintaining detailed records that can be referred to for future visits and ongoing health management- Implement and maintain strict protocols for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing all medical tools and environments to prevent infection and cross-contamination between patients- Skillfully and compassionately restrain animals during examinations and treatments to prevent injury to both the animal and veterinary staff, using appropriate techniques for different species and sizes.
