ABOUT MATT BROWN
I have more than two decades of writing and editing experience with various online and print publications. As the Content Writer at ScriptPro, LLC, I wrote, edited, and laid out many of the company’s consumer-facing publications, including user manuals. In my 7-plus years at the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), I moved from covering public health- and continuing medical education-related issues for the Academy\'s daily online news source,\"AAFP News,\" to overseeing both the copywriting and editorial/informational content writing teams in the AAFP\'s Marketing and Content Strategy Division. As a product developer for Ascend Learning, I developed tests and study guides in both print and online media for the nursing and allied health industries. As the managing editor of Custom Veterinary Media at Advanstar Communications, I managed a staff producing print and web-based content (advertorials, e-blasts, etc.) for animal health clients such as Bayer Animal Health, Intervet/Schering-Plough. As a medical editor at Ascend Media, I served as the lead/managing editor on daily newspapers covering annual meetings for at least 6 medical associations per year, including the American Heart Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the American Thoracic Society. In addition to managing a team of reporters, layout artists, and freelancers during live turns; I also planned and produced content for preview editions and pre-printed sections. I collaborated with designers on each project to produce high-quality, eye-catching, and content-driven designs that not only drew readers in but keep them reading past the jump. Prior to joining Ascend, I worked as a reporter for the Kansas City and Memphis Business Journals, as well as the managing and online editor for Ingram’s Magazine in Kansas City.
