ABOUT MATT BOLAND
I believe that I am called to be an advocate for others, especially those on the margins. In my limited personal experience, I have found that the people who are in need of love the most often appear to deserve it the least. I want to love those people. I am inspired by leaders like Fr. Gregory Boyle, SJ who challenge us “to stand in awe at what the poor have to carry, rather than stand in judgment at how they carry it.” Fr. Boyle also asserts, “The measure of our compassion lies not in our service of those on the margins but only in our willingness to see ourselves in kinship with them.” I hope to continually strengthen my relationships with people in need, while sharing in both their burdens and their successes.
