ABOUT MATKO BARISIC
I am a proactive, curious thinker with a proven r&d, product management, and engineering technology background. I care passionately about the oceans and humankind’s ability to responsibly and sustainably establish and maintain a presence for commerce, culture, and leisure in them through ingenious and innovative use of technology consolidated from many fields of basic and applied research, applied at scale.In my previous work, I have managed first small, then larger teams both in academia and industry, as well as specific high-tech software products relying on control systems theory competence (verification and validation tools, digital twins) but also engineering and configuration tools based on natural language processing, textual data organization, and engineering databases (text but also binary, drawing etc. information). I have also published in conferences on a variety of topics, including analytics of electrical propulsion performance in ice-breaking conditions.In my off-time, I read voracioulsy, fiction and non-fiction, including history, political theory, philosophy of mind, and theology and history of Christianity. I also keep abreast of professional developments through memberships and periodicals from and ACM. I scuba-dive, travel, and game on the PC.
