ABOUT MATIZ THOMPSON
I’m Matiz Thompson, a mechanical engineering student at the University of Florida. I’m currently a first-year ME student with a 3.88 GPA and experience in CAD, engineering coursework, tutoring, and leadership roles.I’ve worked with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Fusion 360 through classes and independent work, focusing on modeling, design, and understanding how mechanical systems are built and evaluated. I’m comfortable learning new tools quickly and improving my work through feedback. I’m interested in a range of industries, including aerospace, defense, energy, and general mechanical design, and I’m looking to explore where my skills fit best through hands on experience.Outside of class, I’ve held leadership roles where I was responsible for organizing teams, setting priorities, and following through on results. I also work as a STEM tutor, where I explain technical material clearly and help students build consistent problem-solving habits.
