About Matilyn Gonzalez
Since a young age, I’ve said that my dream job is to be a real estate developer. Now, as a Land Intern at D.R. Horton, a recent Texas Tech graduate, and an incoming Master of Real Estate student at Texas A&M, I’m proud to be actively working toward that dream. I graduated from Texas Tech University in May 2025 with a B.B.A. in Finance and a Certificate in Commercial Real Estate, completing my degree in just three years and earning Magna Cum Laude honors. Throughout my time at Texas Tech, I prioritized making the most of every opportunity—academically, professionally, and personally. Highlights of my experience include: • Participating in an International Real Estate Study Abroad Program in London • Serving as Vice President of Texas Tech’s Real Estate Organization • Completing an advanced Real Estate Financial Modeling Course taught by Roger Staiger • Being named a May 2025 Future CRE Leader by Trepp, Inc. Currently, I’m interning in the Land Department at D.R. Horton’s Dallas South Division, working closely with the division’s Land Manager. In the role I am gaining in depth insight into to the land and lot acquisition and development process, as well as being exposed to the construction and accounting aspects of the company through a rotational portion of the internship. This August, I will begin the Master of Real Estate (MRE) program at Texas A&M University—an opportunity I’ve long aspired to. I’m thrilled to join a program known for its excellence in commercial real estate development, finance, and valuation. Each of these experiences has only deepened my passion for the real estate industry—and especially for development. I’m eager to continue growing, learning, and contributing as I work toward a long-term career in real estate development!
