ABOUT ALEXANDER MATHIOUDAKIS

My research programme focuses on integrating evidence from clinical trials and real-world data to support timely diagnosis, improve disease characterisation, and personalise treatment in chronic airway diseases, particularly COPD. I have particular expertise in interpreting complex clinical research data, helping to ensure that clinical and policy decisions are aligned with what the evidence truly supports.I am a Senior Lecturer in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Manchester and an Honorary Consultant Respiratory Physician at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. My work sits at the interface of clinical care, evidence generation and synthesis, and guideline-relevant decision-making in airway disease.I have published over 165 peer-reviewed articles, with work cited widely in national and international policy and guideline documents (>27k citations, h-index 54, Google Scholar). I am currently principal investigator of the ICS-RECODE NIHR Health Technology Assessment (HTA)–funded programme.I have contributed to the work of the European Respiratory Society over several years and currently support its activities as Chair of Group 5.1 (Airway Pharmacology & Treatment), a member of the Advocacy Council and Guidelines Working Group, and Chair of a Task Force on core outcomes for COPD maintenance management.Further details are available via- My University profile: https://research.manchester.ac.uk/en/persons/alexandros-mathioudakis/- Google Scholar: & hl=en & oi=ao
