ABOUT MATHIEU LAFOURCADE
Since 1994, Mathieu Lafourcade holds a PhD in Computer Sciences from University of Grenoble where he worked on Software Engineering methods and Specialised Programming Languages for Machine Translation. He spent almost two years as research fellow at the Unit for Machine Translation in Penang (Malaisia), where while continuing his research in specialized languages, he was strongly involved in the FeM (French English Malay) electronic dictionnary. This projet had several followups with Thai and Vietnamese, but also on general dictionnary services on the web. Since 1997, Mathieu Lafourcade is Associate Professor at the University Montpellier II and undertakes his research activity at LIRMM on Natural Language Processing. His research interest is now focused on lexical semantics through semantic analysis based on ant algorithms, conceptual vectors and very large semantic network construction and exploitation.
