ABOUT KEVIN D. MORRISSEY
20 years ago I began my journey into the Maritime Industry. A highly competent watch keeper and qualified deck officer. My passion for the ocean and the ships that sail on it has never been stronger. I have been honored to serve in the United States military as a USCG Marine Inspector both on active duty and in the Reserves. The Coast Guard training, skills, qualifications, and knowledge base I received are second to none. Combined with nautical degree, on the job training, and a wide array of real world challenges/experiences, I bring a highly valuable skill set & positive outlook to any employer. A qualified Marine Inspector and Port State Control Examiner, I have a solid understanding of the shipping industry, ISM, CFR’s, and SMS. With specialties in ship systems, navigational equipment, construction, deck maintenance and repair. I am always thoroughly checking those skills against my ever growing knowledge of regulatory compliance in a wide array of shipping modes.(Tank barges, Passenger vsls, MODU\'s, Foreign freight/tank ships, Towing vsls.) I hold a MMC deck officer (2nd mate-unlimited tonnage) license in the U.S. Merchant Marine, and am lucky to have worked for some great cruise companies. My true childhood dream job was obtained in 2015 when I became just the 2nd American in history to sail aboard one of the Cunard Queens. Now I find my passion shifting toward the superyacht industry and I’ve dedicated myself to obtaining experience aboard a larger 60+ meter motor yacht. I am close to completing my Chief Mates license and hope to sail as Master one day. Also interested in fulfilling a public sector role in elected office someday. Strong customer service and public speaking skills.Specialties: Navigation, International shipping laws/regulations. Highly knowledgable of U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR\'s), SOLAS, etc. Government Liaison. Oil spill cleanup. Cruise ship watch standing/operations, marine fire fighting, safety equip. maint. Federal contracts and financial accounting processes as well as vessel security, IMO, & STCW.
