ABOUT MASTURA TASNIM

I am a young professional with corporate management experience working in the policy and intelligence domain. Currently working for Ambrey, a security and intelligence leader in the maritime industry, I am utilizing my expertise in international relations analysis to provide off-hours conflict response and develop a framework for events-based indicators. At Youth Policy Forum, a policy advocacy platform based off Bangladesh, I engaged with the wider global diaspora. Aiming to bring policy education and advocacy closer to the people, YPF collaborates with government and non-government stakeholders to bring constructive governance changes and implementation. As Content and Editorial Lead, I managed the content team as well as YPF’s key projects, such as the UNDP collaboration on Civic Responsibility Development in grassroot communities of the country. Public private partnerships and education have been two dimensions I have worked closely with as I am currently completing two separate Masters’ that connect these. Public Policy and International Relations have always been my interests and I am glad to be pursuing these degrees from some of the best universities and countries in the world. It has been especially insightful tutoring undergraduate students on Negotiation and Conflict Resolution in Organisations, under the supervision of Dr Stephen Blumenfeld. In 2017 when I graduated from the premier business school in Bangladesh, I joined British American Tobacco Bangladesh as a Global Graduate for the Marketing department. The fast-track management trainee position had me travelling and living in remote parts of the country, managing sales teams as large as 500 people at a time while grappling with the gigantic task of representing some of the most well-known brands in the world. As a brand officer, I managed $60m brands before being promoted to Area Manager where I had the privilege of mentoring five Territory Officers in different stages of their career. BATB is where I had my first experience living remotely, managing directly, and communicating professionally. I have been privileged with a diverse work experience, having worked in technology and smart cities, journalism, trade and brand marketing, policy advocacy, and secondary and tertiary education. Throughout, I have believed in the power of effective strategy and communication. I hope to utilise these two strengths moving forward in my career as a policy professional.
