As Head of the \'Government & Security\' Strategic Business Unit (SBU) of Planetek Italia, I have deep knowledge of the company, the customers, the competition and the market. I am responsible for the management of the SBU and its business plans, reporting directly to the CEO, and I am directly responsible for the achievement of the company results for my SBU quota.I constantly interact with the other Heads of SBU to ensure the effectiveness of the operations in line with the overall strategies of my organization. I also look after the professional growth of my staff.I am responsible for the sales of geospatial and Earth observation services on the governmental market at the national and international level, and for the defense market in Italy. In my SBU we also support the company activities on the Educational market in Italy, and we coordinate the development of the international network of Rheticus® resellers.The geospatial solutions offered are often combinations of different technologies in the field of Earth Observation, spatial data infrastructure and applications for environmental management, urban planning, civil protection and emergencies, tourism, coastal monitoring and protection of water resources, agriculture and forestry. The technologies involve the use of Earth Observation data (from satellite, airborne or UAV sensors) and both free and open source software or commercial products (COTS) of leading vendors, as well as the creation of value for the customer by leveraging the Panetek assets, Rheticus® and Preciso®.

I have a long experience in selling software products and solutions into the geospatial market at the international level. I have been responsible to maintain existing & establish new prime contracts for software sales, development, implementation, and services. I use to analyze trends of geospatial solutions within the Government and Defence market, studying existing and potential business in my territories and accounts of interest, predicting key procurements, providing guidance on partnerships, technology focus, and business growth areas to my organization. I have been successful in capturing new business by establishing long-term contractual partnerships with end customers, large system integrators, small businesses, and other key industry organizations.I am a passionate promoter of issues related to Geo-ICT and Earth observation. In 20 years of professional experience, I\'ve gained expertise in Geography, Geomatics, Remote Sensing, client-server and web-oriented architectures, Spatial Data Infrastructures, geospatial standards for data interoperability, and open policies, notably in Earth observation. I use to talk about Earth observation and spatial data interoperability on my personal blog http://medium.com/@massimozotti, and in 2020 I started a podcast called \"Occhio alla Terra\", in Italian, where I discuss Earth observation and Space Economy with my friend Giuseppe Forenza and many guests.
