ABOUT MASOOD K. YOUSUFZAI
As Patrick Henry once wrote, “The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them.”Hi! I’m Masood and I am passionate about government. When I was an undergraduate student at California State University Bakersfield, I knew that I wanted to serve people by working in the public sector however, I thought I would do this by going to law school and becoming a District Attorney. Instead, I pursued a Master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University Northridge, and ultimately became a public sector Internal Audit & Special Projects Manager. Yes I know what you’re probably thinking, quite the 180. My decision however has benefited me in more ways than I can describe.Never would I have imagined a career, which would include opportunities as fascinating as; developing a Transient Occupancy Tax filing program for a municipality, or constructing an Airport Audit Program for a Part 139 Airport. Working as an Internal Audit Manager has reinforced, my core beliefs that government entities should always remain; transparent, impartial and accountable to their stakeholders, something that I remain passionate about. My experience in government has additionally allowed me to; become a transformative manager, develop a variety of financial and compliance policies and procedures, as well as plan and conduct complex audits.Prior to entering government, I worked in the Circular 230 IRS Tax Resolution Industry, in a variety of capacities. It was during this time where I developed analytical abilities as well as management skills that have benefited me throughout my career. Additionally, I learned about Federal and State Tax laws and regulations, developed a passion for Tax Policy matters, and learned to manage large workloads.When I’m not worrying about organizational deficiencies, I enjoy; playing the drums, remaining physically active, travelling, the company of my dog, and consuming a copious amount of espresso. email: m••••••••@gmail.com
