ABOUT MASON MENDELL

I have always had a passion for technology dating back to when I was in high school. This led me to a Bachelor\'s degree in Geographic Information Systems and a minor in Management Information Systems. In the College of Business at the University of Oklahoma, I was honored to be a Teacher\'s assistant for the introductory MIS class. Over the years in college, I learned that it\'s not just about understanding the technology, but also about protecting it. I\'ve been in the cybersecurity field for 2 years at Paycom where I began as a SOC Analyst and was promoted to an IT Security Administrator. Currently, I am an IT Information Security Analyst at Veracross. Working as a SOC Analyst, I had daily operations of security solutions (SIEM, SOAR) and the identification, investigation and resolution of security incidents detected by these systems. I also helped with the development and/or implementation of security solutions. I then moved over to the End User Security team working as an IT Security Administrator where I was responsible for managing Paycom\'s Antivirus (Cortex XDR), implementing a DLP program (using Microsoft Purview) for all endpoints and implementing security measures to protect the company\'s infrastructure from cyber threats. Outside of enhancing my security skills, I enjoy being outdoors, playing sports, walking around in parks and spending time with my family/friends.
