One day, van de Wiel, a NY-based brand maverick, landed in the middle of Mexico, picked up a brush and a can of black house and started to paint floor to ceiling for the first time in her life. It turned her world upside down. Always the incurable doodler, those damn doodles refused to be doodles anymore. Hello, Black Line Crazy.(In MAY 2024, we rebranded to VAN DE WIEL.)It felt like Black Line Crazy was taking her by the hand and leading her down a path she could never have imagined.The scale of her work grew big, bold and impulsive. No wonder. Van believes that art has a pulse. It belongs in everyday life. Not just on walls. That’s why she couldn’t resist interpreting her paintings across different platforms, mediums and textures. Her first successful exhibition was at the Saint Cloche Gallery in Sydney 2015. Galeria Manuk in Mexico followed in 2016 where she showcased her resined paintings and first Wool Collection in Mexico. In September 2019, her first public Art Installation, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, was unveiled in the UBS corporate bank lobby at 1285 Ave of the Americas and W51. It\'s still up.Currently in Mexico, she’s recently launched her first Black Line Crazy Limited Edition Collection. Each piece is based on a signed original painting. Starting with messenger bags, the work now includes wearable art pieces - totes and zippered portfolio sleeves - the first one-of-a-kind handwoven Wool Collection and much more.
