ABOUT MARYN CIANCIOLO
As a political science major, I am interested in how AI is shaping political survey research and how this can be applied to explore political behavior in the United States. In terms of my role as a Law and Society Scholar, I am well-versed in how to effectively advocate for myself, others, and issues I am passionate about, such as mental health treatment. With respect to bioethics, I am keenly aware of the growing implications advancing technology like CRISPR will have not just on ethical decision making, but the legality surrounding these decisions. I am interested in research on biotechnology and the ethical implications such technology has in the clinical setting, and I highlight these ethical concerns in my paper \"Biohacking and Transhumanism: Protecting Us From Ourselves\". I am hoping to gain experience serving on a hospital ethics committee or ethics consulting team.I intend to go to law school after my undergraduate career. Specifically, I am highly passionate about how the law not only can, but must be used to ensure responsible use of AI technology, especially in a world where AI continues and will continue to demonstrate evolving potential. I have strong knowledge in risk mitigation strategies, AI ethics principles, and current statutes governing and promoting responsible use of AI.
