ABOUT MARY LYNN FUTERS
Keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable.\"~Mary Oliver. As a Creative Catalyst, I encourage others in their creative explorations. Acting as a spark plug to their thinking – I empower them to notice and to pay attention. To look at the world in a {slightly} different way. To see problems that need to be solved; or, ways of making things better. This often means, I ask questions like: Why? Why, not? And, what if? A lot. My passion for health and wellness sprouted very early in life – having dealt with respiratory illness much of my childhood, I forged a career in healthcare, becoming a Respiratory Therapist. Clinically, I practiced in Cardio-Pulmonary Testing and Homecare – caring for both chronic respiratory and palliative patients. Still to date, one of my most rewarding journeys. My deep understanding of the business side of healthcare comes from several years spent in sales management for healthcare products. This tenure was followed by more than a decade of conceiving, designing and delivering breakthrough medical education, marketing and healthcare promotion programs, events, and campaigns for world-renowned companies in the healthcare and medical technology fields. In 2010, while freelancing as a Continuing Medical Education (CME) Consultant, my husband Larry and I founded 7 Communications. Here, my focus shifted into Project Management and Operations. In 2014, I took a sabbatical from the day-to-day operations to study Holistic and Clinical Nutrition. With first class honours at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition (IHN), I became a Certified Nutritional Practitioner in 2017. And, after subsequently attending The Academy of Culinary Nutrition I also obtained a Culinary Nutritionist certificate. Upon graduation from IHN, I launched Gather to Nourish – a movement created to gather women. Curating experiences using food, movement and artistry. This movement re-inspired my magnanimous creativity, and my love for the written word. Since then, I have been working behind the proverbial velvet curtain (yes, just like the Wizard of Oz), writing prose (editing and proofing too) and creating new business and strategic campaign and experiential ideas for the team at 7 Communications. And since you asked. I prefer to be barefoot. I prefer quiet over loud. Books over TV. And, will stare at clouds for hours, if given the chance.
