About Mary Robinson
My life purpose is to transform suffering into joy and happiness and restore the mind, body, and heart to wholeness. Through my private practice in Madison, NJ, I provide support, hope, and transformation for those coping with grief and loss and other life transitions. I work with individuals of all ages and also specialize in working with families coping with a family member with a chronic or terminal illness diagnosis and supporting children and teens during this time. As Founder and former Executive Director of Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss, and Good Grief, Inc, my vision is to normalize grief in our society and support people during any loss or life transition. With 30 years’ experience in the corporate and nonprofit sector I also volunteer for nonprofits to raise the funds, capacity, and resources needed to realize their vision in the world. Leaving the corporate world in 1997 to volunteer and work full-time in the field of grief support, I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in English, a Master’s Degree in Applied Psychoanalysis, and a Certificate in Thanatology. I am a member of the Association for Death Education and Counseling and the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis, and serve on the Board of Trustees of the National Alliance for Children\'s Grief and as President of the Board of The Academy of Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis.A creative, highly motivated and visionary leader with expertise and a proven track record in fund raising, relationship building, clinical skills, and organizational development. Tech geek in prior life.

Imagine, A Center For Coping With Loss
Sep 2011 — Present · NJ, US
Imagine, a free year-round NJ children\'s grief support organization for children, teens, families and adults coping with loss due to death and illness. Based on the Dougy Center model of children\'s grief support in Portland Oregon, we train volunteers to facilitate peer grief support groups for children age 3-18, young adults 18-30 and for the parents or guardians of the youth. We have separate grief support groups for parents who have had a child die and for children who have a parent or sibling living with illness. Imagine currently provides free year-round peer grief support for over 225 children and adults every two weeks from Union County and beyond and provides training and education for thousands of teachers, parents, coaches, youth and other adults annually.Available: Parent Loss Grief Support GroupsChild Loss Grief Support GroupsSibling Loss Grief Support GroupsParent Living with Illness Support GroupsChildren Living with Illness Support GroupsWorkshops Available:Grief and LossFostering Resilience in Grieving ChildrenFostering Resilience in SchoolsGrief in the WorkplaceGrief in the Workplace Lunch & Learns
