About Mary Beth Lock

I am a library professional with over 20 years of experience in library management and administration. I work with constituents to develop and implement strategic plans that focus on the needs of the library’s users, and our campus community. Utilizing a social justice lens, and EDI perspective, I develop library partnerships across the region, the state and the nation to maximize efficiency and service. My intent is to optimize library resources and programs for all users, and to find the highest level of service by improving workflows, implementing new technologies, and hire and develop staff and librarians to be effective library leaders. I am a highly motivated professional who focuses on providing a superior customer service, maximizing inclusion, and creating an exceptional user experience. I have expertise in hiring and creating a team environment that emphasizes individual performance and accountability while maximizing teamwork. I am a dedicated professional always seeking ways to expand access and minimize barriers to information. I focus my research and scholarship on equity, diversity and inclusion, assessment, entrepreneurial librarianship, safety and security, and effective leadership.
