About Mary Barsoum
As a J.D. Candidate at Rutgers Law School in Newark, New Jersey, I am deeply engaged in both academics and leadership within the law school community. I currently serve as the Student Bar Association’s Director of Student Organization Relations, I was selected for the Rutgers Law Moot Court Board, I am an Associate Editor for the Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Journal, and I am a Class Representative for the Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Society. I am also a proud member of the Minority Student Program and a Themis Bar Review Campus Representative.In the summer following my 1L year, I spent 10 weeks at Nokia as an Ethics & Regulatory Compliance Intern, where I participated in hands-on compliance projects with direct business impact. I collaborated with senior legal and compliance professionals on corporate governance, privacy, and regulatory matters, gained exposure to major customer contract negotiations, assisted in deposition preparation, and supported the implementation of compliance policies, processes, tools, and training. This experience strengthened my interest in corporate compliance and regulatory law while giving me practical insight into the intersection of law and business.Before law school, I earned my B.S. with High Honors from Rutgers University–New Brunswick, graduating with a joint degree from the School of Arts and Sciences and the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, while completing pre-medical coursework. I was named to the Dean’s List in Spring 2022, Fall 2022, and Spring 2023.My career in the healthcare industry shaped my commitment to service, adaptability, and problem-solving. These experiences continue to inform my legal education and professional path.
