About Maryam A.
I build systems that help organizations think, decide, and operate better. As a strategy and operations analyst, I have experience across fashion-tech startups, public policy research, and multilateral institutions, working at the intersection of research and operations. I focus on how organizations function day-to-day, identifying bottlenecks, and designing systems that make work clearer, faster, and more collaborative.I grew from intern to full-time analyst at a venture-backed fashion-tech startup, where I identified operational gaps and built no-code automations, dashboards, and knowledge systems that reduced response times by 64%, improved collaboration, and cut software costs. Much of my work involved noticing where processes broke down (information scattered across tools, slow response cycles and unclear ownership) and building practical systems to fix them. I completed an MA in South Asian Studies at Columbia University. My coursework focused on politics, religion, and postcolonial history, alongside projects in visual storytelling and ethnographic research. That training shaped how I think about institutions, power, and context, and it continues to inform how I approach research and systems design.Currently, I\'m working with the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations, supporting research and briefings on humanitarian affairs and peacekeeping, tracking UN debates, and preparing internal summaries for policy follow-up.Across roles, I’ve been drawn to work that involves analysis, coordination, and bringing structure to messy systems. I’m interested in strategy, operations, digital transformation, and applied research roles, especially in mission-driven or growing organizations, and happy to connect to discuss opportunities.
