ABOUT MARY YUHANNA
I am an aspiring Bioinformatician with an MSc in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology from the University of Manchester, specialising in computational biology, genomics, and interdisciplinary research. I am passionate about leveraging computational tools to drive insights into disease mechanisms, with a focus on genome analysis, data modelling, and bioinformatics pipeline development. In my recent research, I pioneered a genome-wide model for H3K4 methylation in Kabuki syndrome, using high-performance computing to analyse large datasets and uncover critical epigenetic markers. Additionally, I co-developed a scalable computational pipeline in Python for Peptide Mass Fingerprinting, advancing diagnostic accuracy in enzyme selection. My expertise spans Python, R, and Unix/Bash, with a strong background in genomic analysis and bioinformatics. I am also skilled in communicating complex scientific concepts, having presented my findings at conferences and conducted an insightful interview with Dr. Arijit Mukhopadhyay on advancements in whole exome sequencing, published in Bioscientist: The Salford Biomedicine Society Magazine.I’m enthusiastic about interdisciplinary research and thrive in collaborative environments, whether working with clinicians, computational scientists, or biologists. Currently seeking opportunities to apply my skills in a PhD program or research role where I can contribute to impactful studies at the intersection of computational and experimental biology.
