About Mary Peacock
As the Volunteer Coordinator at Durham Crisis Response Center, I led the expansion of our volunteer workforce from 2 to 20 within six months through strategic recruitment, comprehensive training, and effective retention initiatives. I developed curriculum to prepare volunteers to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.Additionally, I facilitate weekly support groups. I have experience in legal advocacy, assisting clients with obtaining protection orders, providing court accompaniment, and conducting safety planning using a client-centered approach. I am passionate about creating positive change in my community and empowering others to do the same. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida and a Continuing Education Certificate in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from Duke University. I am also a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS), credentialed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. My key skills include program and project development and management, victim advocacy, adult training, and mentoring for leadership. I am always eager to learn and apply new knowledge to enhance my work.
