About Mary Moodey

In 2012, after twenty-plus years in Education, Mary Arete Moodey founded MarMooWorks, a company featuring original children\'s books and companion pieces produced through digital and traditional art forms. It was through the StARTup Incubator that Moodey was able to launch MarMooWorks. Since then, MarMooWorks has created and produced \"Christopher Counts The Constellations,\"\"A Hero at Three,\" and \"A Hullabaloo of Hippos: A Lollapalooza of Language from A to Z,\" along with their companion pieces.\"Goin\' Explorin,\': and Off They Go,\" published by reCAP Mason Jars, is a young reader\'s chapter book about a boy, knighted for surviving dangerous expeditions, who discovers the unexpected on his quests, including a \"haunted house\" and young girl who vanishes like a shadow. The project was a collaboration with Karen Rzepecki, Founder and CEO of reCAP Mason Jars, and includes an Explorer\'s Bug Kit and activity book. The product launch has been embraced by Environment Erie and its educational programs.\"When the Camel Sneezed,\" MarMooWorks\' fifth book is due out in the fall of 2016. Both \"A Hullabaloo of Hippos,\" and \"When the Camel Sneezed\" are illustrated by Sam Moodey. In February 2015, Moodey collaborated with the SoMar Dance Company in choreographing the first three MarMooWorks stories:\"Of Heroes, Serpents, and Stars.\" SoMar premiered this work at the Beyond Words IV Dance Concert in the Mary D\'Angelo Performing Arts Center, at Mercyhurst University. MarMooWorks and Catch-22 FX launched Phase 1 of its first Virtual Reality Learning Programs in March, 2015, at Erie\'s Our Lady\'s Christian elementary school. The stories are educational, fun, and reflect classic and contemporary trends in children\'s literature: the use of fantastical and imaginary creatures to help children explore and understand the expansive world outside themselves, while feeling safe in their own environment.
