ABOUT MARY KATHRYN MYERS
I am a sophomore at the James Madison University Honors College majoring in Nursing through the James Madison University School of Nursing with a double minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies and Chronic Illness. I am currently an Honors Ambassador for the JMU Honors College and a member of multiple on campus societies such as Kappa Alpha Theta (Alumni Engagement Committee), Nursing Student Association (Fundraising & Merchandise Committee), and I volunteer through Empowerment3 as a Beginner Aquatics Mentor. While in high school, I was a three-season varsity athlete and captain of the cross country and track teams. Through this role, I learned the importance of leadership and being a good role-model, while leading my team to league and state championships. I was also a member of several clubs such as Future Medical Professionals, COMPASS, and RampsRVA, and I held jobs such as a lifeguard manager at the Country Club of Virginia, a cashier at Publix, and babysitting for several families nearby. Through these roles, I further developed my time management skills and relationships with those around me. I learned new skills such as creating work schedules and emergency medical procedures, and I developed strong relationships with people of all ages and needs.
