About Mary Esposito
I’ve always been drawn to how creativity can make complicated ideas feel simple. At 14, what began as crocheting for fun became Purple Pear—an online community of over people using craftivism to spark conversations about identity and empowerment. At 18, I launched Money with Mary, a financial literacy platform reaching nearly people with short videos that help Gen Z build confidence with money. I now apply that same mission as a peer coach at UNC’s Carolina Financial Well-Being Center, where I mentor fellow students on budgeting, credit, and financial confidence. Through these projects, I’ve learned how to make complex topics clear and engaging while building genuine trust with my audience.Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep blending creativity and strategy to help organizations connect with Gen Z in ways that feel authentic and drive real impact. My work lives at the intersection of storytelling, analytics, and social change—and at the core of everything I do is one belief: knowledge should spark action.
Experience
Content and Strategy Intern
Jun 2025 — Present · NY, US
I’m interning at ReadWorks as a Social Media Content and Strategy Intern. Based in New York City, I’m supporting several cross-functional projects that enhance the organization’s educator-facing content and digital outreach. My work includes collecting and organizing teacher feedback from multiple channels—surveys, social media, and video submissions—to create a searchable internal resource that informs content strategy and impact storytelling. I’m also contributing to developing teacher spotlight stories for ReadWorks’ annual report, blog, and social media, and helping shape a new teacher outreach campaign by auditing existing platforms and drafting targeted email, web, and social copy. Additionally, I’m repurposing long-form video content for short-form social posts, writing financial literacy articles for middle and high school students, and participating in team trainings on email marketing, video editing, and content development.
