   MAD architecture specializes in architecture for Sonoma, Marin and Napa Counties with many award winning built projects over the last 30 years. We have a long history of winery design, work with non-profit orgs, government projects, custom homes, commercial tenant and restaurant/ cafe design. Over the last 3 years, our multi-family housing work has grown. Our talented staff puts together projects that range from square feet commercial projects to Accessory Dwelling Units. The partners have worked in San Francisco, Sausalito and Santa Rosa firms until they formed MAD architecture in 2003. Chris and Mary met at U.C. Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design where they became motivated by ecological approaches over stylistic ones. The partners resolved to be site driven, responding to natural systems and processes with the intent to create beautiful spaces integrating purpose while discovering the nature of place.Facing world challenges at home we must re-imagine how to work, live and play together (and apart) in communities built on mutual respect and fairness. This vision is integral to our design approach and our relationships.We have dedicated our extra-curricular efforts to working on the General Plan, Community Master Planning, Open Space and Natural Resource Preservation, and decarbonization awareness in our home town of Petaluma.
