About Mary Clodfelter
As a recent graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, my coursework has provided me with valuable insights into natural history, ecosystem management, and the legal dimensions of recreation, while also focusing on native and invasive species and sustainability practices. I am currently working as a Greenhouse & Nursery Assistant for Indiana University, cultivating young saplings and plants to maturity and planting them on campus. I am dedicated to the conservation of natural habitats in Monroe and Brown County, where I played a key role in developing an ecosystem management plan for Flatwoods Park that harmonizes ecological preservation with recreational use. My internship at Keep Indianapolis Beautiful as an Urban Naturalist has been pivotal in furthering my commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. I have actively managed stormwater planters and rain gardens, carried out habitat restoration using machetes, chainsaws, and wood-chippers, and engaged with community members to foster a sense of ownership and care for their green spaces. These experiences have shaped my vision of a sustainable future, where people and nature thrive together.
