After working in the media, at a mega resort and the city of Las Vegas, Mary Ann Price joined the Nevada Eighth Judicial District Court as the court information officer in support of 52 jurists and their departments. Working with Hollywood producers and media coordinating films, television series, documentaries, travel shows and special events; addressing issues of homelessness, code enforcement and prison re-entry; making complex technology understandable and interesting; dealing with the day-to-day politics of a top tier tourist city, and doing live news broadcasts, turns out to be great preparation to step into the role of court communications. Outreach is an important aspect of Mary Ann’s work, because everyone benefits: the court educates future generations on the justice system, and students also learn about life choices and careers in the process while having fun. Responsibilities include development of all communications material including: social media posts, blog posts, trade publication content, media releases, A/V presentations, videos and conference materials. Serve on committees with community leaders and elected officials for community projects. Address challenging media situations in a responsive manner, while abiding by legal and ethical parameters. Perform leadership responsibilities by managing team that communicates information to the public.
