ABOUT MARY A WILLIAMS
Retiring from her life in athletics, Mary completed her education and internships in Mental Health Counseling. Finalizing her internships at Integrated Care Concepts and Consultation and graduating in December 2022, she will continue her journey with them as a Licensed Associate Counselor. She is also pursuing her passion by studying to receive her degree as a trauma informed yoga teacher, to integrate the healing power of yoga in her mental health practice joined the Georgian Court University Athletic Department in August 2004. In her role developing student-athlete welfare, Williams strive to create innovative academic support and leadership programming. After attending the 2015 NCAA DII APPLE Conference her team created the Mentor Program to facilitate and enhance the freshman educational sessions held in the fall, now known as GCYou. The highly successful mentor program now has 20 upper-class mentors guiding incoming freshmen student-athletes in the transition to college life. In partnership with the department\'s Faculty Athletic Representative, the Academic Improvement Program was created, educating academically struggling student-athletes to the resources available to assist them in adjusting to the academic rigors of college. Williams is involved in many aspects of the service opportunities in which the GCU student-athletes participate, most notably the very successful Learning With the Lions, an outreach mentorship program within the Lakewood elementary school system. As a liaison to the Special Olympics Unified Sports club, she oversees a program that brings student partners and intellectually disabled athletes together on the basketball court to develop understanding and respect by promoting social inclusion through a shared sports training and competition experience. Named GCU\'s Senior Woman Administrator in August, 2010, Williams chaired the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference’s SWA Committee for two consecutive terms during which she introduced several professional development programs to help those linchpin individuals appreciate their worth. She served two years on the NCAA DII Softball Regional Advisory Committee. Last year, she became President Elect of the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey. An AtIXa certified Title IX Coordinator, Williams sits on the Georgian Court Campus Title IX committee.
