Duties and Responsibilities:• Creates, manages and leads the International Political Analysis Department, supervising a team of four analysts• Provides timely, accurate and reliable geopolitical analysis to all CIB departments that focuses on general global risks ranging from instability in Latin America (with a focus on Venezuela and Brazil), to uncertainty in Europe (Brexit), a continued analysis of potential trade wars between the U.S. and China and instability in South-East Asia• Maintains the Bank’s Geopolitical Risk Matrix which was developed personally and assesses all 195 countries worldwide and gives a risk score for each country based on several key indicators. This matrix helps the bank assess a country’s risk in order to provide appropriate recommendations to clients and was the basis for Bank’s expansion projects across Africa• Analyses and assesses developments in the African continent with the purpose of aiding and guiding CIB’s strategic international interests. This analysis is key in providing CIB with a platform and a better understanding of which countries in Africa offered a lucrative economy for the Bank to operate inAccomplishments:• International expansion projects were made across Africa, notably in Kenya and Ethiopia, as a result of the department’s analysis that was given personally which focused on all the possible strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats notable to CIB within Africa• Created the Political Analysis Risk Department from scratch which involved the creation of department guidelines, outline of positions available/required, finalising of the hiring process and the alignment of the department’s objectives with those of the bank. This department did not exist previously in the bank and was the first task administered in January 2018 at start of employment• Led the department responsible for convincing the bank’s board of directors that the Kenyan banking market could prove to be lucrative
