About Marveon Mabon

With over 10 years of hands-on experience leading community-centered initiatives, I currently serve as a Strategic Engagement Specialist at True Blue 1881 and Senior Adams Intern at Morehouse College. In these roles, I focus on building strong partnerships, raising funds, and creating programs that empower students and uplift communities.I’ve been able to bring to life impactful projects through the Emma and Joe Adams Scholars Program, including the Morehouse Takes LA Youth Empowerment Tour, which brings 50–100 Morehouse College students to underserved communities like Watts in Los Angeles, to provide youth empowerment and mentorship to young men in middle and high school. I’ve also helped lead initiatives such as It’s on the House: Angel Tree and Morehouse Winter Wonderland, both of which directly serve K–12 students and families in the West End community.Beyond campus, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles 15th Council District’s One Five Fund, where I help advance initiatives that invest in local youth and community development. I also work with GreenSpacesLA to develop community gardens in Los Angeles underserved community of Watts, turning neglected spaces into areas of growth and sustainability.Before these roles, I spent years supervising staff and leading teams through programs like the Los Angeles Mayor’s Summer Night Lights initiative, The Watts Empowerment Center, Watts Worksource Center, etc where I focused on professional development and community engagement for young workers ages 14-25.My journey from grassroots organizing to strategic program development has been about one thing: building connections that create opportunity. Every role I take on reflects my commitment to community, collaboration, and meaningful impact.

1. Senior Adams Intern

   As the Senior Adams Intern for the Emma & Joe Adams Scholarship Program at Morehouse College, I lead efforts to sustain and grow one of Morehouse College’s most transformative programs. My responsibilities include- Raising funds and securing sponsorships to support program operations and student experiences- Planning and executing the Morehouse Takes LA Youth Empowerment Tour, a signature immersive trip connecting Morehouse Men with K–12 students, community leaders, and changemakers across Los Angeles- Overseeing all Adams Scholars, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities- Managing community engagement efforts, including service projects at local K–12 schools- Overseeing the Morehouse Mascot Program and coordinating campus and community appearances- Strengthening Adams Alumni engagement and partnerships to ensure long-term program sustainability- Contributing to restoring the Adams Program to full standing as a flagship scholarship at Morehouse College
