WORK HISTORY
Senior Principal Engineer @Oxford Global Resources
Contract for the largest lumber, laminate, plywood and LVL machine grader manufacturer in the world. • Designed and implemented using C# 10.NET Core 6.0/.NET Framework 4.8, WPF/WinUI3, and Entity Framework Core 6, the GUI applications and backend systems for Raute’s latest non-contact strength grader. The system determined the MoE (Modulus of Elasticity) of structural lumber products. Backend supported, via Entity Framework Core 6.0; SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB and SQLite databases. Utilized async/await and task parallel library (TPL) to implement asynchronous code that ensured the GUIs were responsive during database, disk, and network processing. • Designed and implemented via C++ 17 and Qt, a JSON C++ object serialization system in a shared git sub-module that could be shared between the frontend/database system and the embedded real-time kernel Linux machine controller. The design used templates and attributes to have the pre-compiler generate the serialization code from POCO (Plain Old C++ Objects) data/message objects. This saved effort and shortened the development timeline. JSON messages between the C#.NET Core frontend and the controller backend could be easily implemented without having to write serialization code for each type. • Designed and implemented via C++ 17, Qt, and Qt Creator, a GUI based WebSocket client and server to act as mocks. When the project was started the controllers were scarce and the software on that platform was just beginning development as well. This decoupled my work from the work of other engineers which allowed the project to be completed in the target timeframe. • Hybrid work environment with remote work in Cary, NC and onsite work in Pullman WA.
