About Martin Miller
Martin Miller is Executive Director at the Tony Award-winning McCarter Theatre in Princeton, NJ. In two years at McCarter, he has overseen a near-doubling in attendance, a 40% increase in charitable giving, and the launch a far-reaching new community access program. Previously, he was Executive Director/Producer at TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, AR, where he transformed the theater from a company offering 50 performances a year on a operating budget to an organization offering 350 performances annually on a $7.5 million budget. He led fundraising, financing, design, and construction for the company’s $31 million, multi-venue, permanent home, an open-all-day community gathering space (AIA NY Honor Award; 2021 International Architecture Award). His twin commitments to smart fiscal stewardship and risk-taking artistry are reflected in 14 years of sustained growth and accolades, including the Obie Award and a “Best of 2020” Critics’ Pick in The New York Times. Under his leadership, TheatreSquared was awarded the 2021 Standing Up for Racial Justice Award (Black Action Collective) and the 2022 Latinx Non-Profit Trailblazer Award (LatinXNA Empowerment Forum). He is a graduate of Carleton College and holds a masters in arts leadership from The Theatre School/DePaul. He established the National Stages Program, a consortium of producing theatres offering reciprocal member benefits, and has served as a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts, OPERA America, and the Theatre Communications Group. Prior to 2009, he served as associate producer at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where he produced a variety of projects including the bilingual Romeo y Julieta by Karen Zacarías.
