About John Martinez

In 2023, Emergency Managers are needed now more than ever. In order for an Emergency Manager to be effective they need to have disaster experience and the ability to work well with other agencies/ emergency managers. I graduated Rowan University with degrees in Disaster Preparedness & Emergency Management and Law & Justice. My academic years taught me about the background of emergency management and the U.S. National Incident Management Systems framework. The classes at Rowan provided me the tools to pursue a career in emergency management. In 2023 I joined the American Red Cross and was able to utilize my emergency management skills and learned about New Jerseys emergency response management framework. My time at the American Red Cross has strengthened my practical skills in the preparedness, response, recovery, prevention, and mitigation of a disaster. My involvement in the Red Cross has allowed me to perfect my emergency management leadership skills and aided my networking with New Jerseys Disaster Cycle Services Managers. At the end of the day, my goal when working in emergency management is to prevent loss of life and preserve the property of the people of New Jersey.
