I like to build things that challenge assumptions. especially when systems are stretched and people are feeling it.Right now, that means co-leading Goodwin: a tech-enabled, human-first workplace investigation consultancy based in Alberta.We’re rethinking how investigations get done. The work is time-sensitive and human-sensitive, and it often lands on internal teams already at capacity. Outsourcing can ease the load, but the unpredictability of cost and process makes it a tough call. Investigations matter. They deserve better options.So we’re offering an alternative: fixed-fee pricing, structured process, transparent timelines, and defensible outcomes. Powered by thoughtful proprietary tech. Grounded in best-in-class investigative principles. Designed for the real world.My role: part architect, part shepherd. I lead tech and product direction, risk infrastructure, and overall service design. I also shape our compliance strategy (yes, I still love a good system) and serve as the face of the business during our early stage—bringing nearly 30 years of experience across law, business strategy, governance, and innovation.Before Goodwin, I:– Practiced law in private and in-house roles– Founded and scaled Simplex Legal (a virtual national law firm, acquired in 2021)– Invested in and advised startups as an active angel– Helped boards and founders navigate risk, growth, and governance challengesI care about building thoughtful systems: fair, future-facing, and built to serve the people inside them. These days, I’m just as likely to be thinking about interface design or defensibility as I am about legal frameworks or negotiation strategy.Curious. Collaborative. Just rebellious enough.
