The Clerk administers elections in the Township, provides resident services, and is a voting member of the Township Board of Trustees. The Clerk ensures that the Board of Trustees exercises its legislative and oversight powers in accordance with legal requirements and the Clerk documents Board actions in an open and transparent manner. Townships have a diffuse power structure that is best described in the following way: The elected Supervisor is the Chief Operations Officer, the elected Treasurer is the Chief Financial Officer and the Clerk function most closely resembles that of a Chief Administrative Officer. The Township Board is the Township’s legislative body and is like a company\'s Board of Directors giving high-level direction to the Township. The Supervisor, Treasurer, and Clerk all report directly to the electorate (not each other or the Township Board) but work together for effective operation of Township government.
