About Martina Fugazzotto

Martina Fugazzotto has been making the internet since the 1900s, when she first learned to code from a website called the \"gURL\'s Guide to HTML\". About 10 years later she found herself working for gURL.com, the company that published that guide, and was tasked with updating the guide for a new generation. It was her first experience in giving back to younger girls in tech. Martina was trained as a designer at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and then continued her professional studies in engineering at NYU where she unfortunately studied the now defunct Flash development, a decision that taught her how quickly technology moves, and also how real life on-the-job tech training is more valuable than tech academics. Martina has spent her 22-year career as a developer, designer, and product leader at large media organizations like NBC and News Corp as well as tiny startups in fintech and women\'s media. She has taught UX design summer camp to NYC public school kids, published award-winning health education comics for girls, and has been an active, card-carrying Girl Scout since 1988. Her gardening blog FarmTina was featured in a film about urban gardening that played the film festival circuit.She\'s currently working as the SVP of Product Strategy for BBC Studios\' Commercial News business, where she\'s spent the last four years envisioning and launching BBC\'s new commercial digital offerings to global audiences. She also sits on the BBC Studios AI Strategy Group, representing AI usage in BBC\'s Commercial News teams.Martina lives in Nyack, NY with her husband Mike and daughter Calliope. She spends her \"free time\"(lol) weaving on her tapestry loom and doing jigsaw puzzles.
