ABOUT MARTINA ATANASOVA
A motivated undergraduate student passionate about advancing knowledge and expertise in International Relations, Human Development, and Law. My specific interests lie at the intersection of geopolitics, security, conflict mediation, immigration, and human rights, with a regional focus on the Middle East and Balkan regions.I currently serve as a Volunteer Assistant at the UN World Food Programme (WFP), where I support the Wellness and Culture Division. My work involves contributing to global wellbeing policy initiatives, intercultural communication workshops, and psychosocial support programs for humanitarian employees and their family members at headquarters and across all WFP regional offices, which is crucial during the ongoing humanitarian reset. Previously, I worked on the diplomatic management team at the U.S. Tri-Mission Embassy in Rome.I have been actively broadening my understanding of foreign policy and diplomacy as tools for transformative change. Through policy research, analysis of development trends, and evaluations of international law, I have honed my ability to assess complex global issues within my academic coursework and additional independent studies within my university department.Following my experience as an official UN observer at COP29, I have expanded my focus to include sustainable development and climate justice, particularly in the context of security and conflict. I am deeply interested in the challenges of mitigating military emissions and the critical role of international rule of law in building robust national accountability frameworks.I am eager to contribute my skills and insights to impactful projects that drive meaningful progress in these areas.
