ABOUT MARTIN VELCHEK
Currently, I am a Junior Biomedical Engineering (BME) and Pre-Medicine student at Saint Louis University. I hold a strong interest in biomaterials and material science, particularly in their application in orthopedics and medical implants.Beyond academics, I have prior work experience managing projects, project design, and applying engineering principles. My technical proficiencies include hands-on skills like rapid prototyping (mills, lathes, 3D printing), MATLAB modeling, inspection reports, a well as state and federal regulations and compliance.I contribute to ongoing research in the area of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, looking at sepsis and its underlying pathways. In this research, I look specifically in molecules and pathways pertaining to chlorinated lipids (Cl-lipids), a novel lipid discovered by Dr. David Ford and his team within the Ford Laboratory at SLU.
