ABOUT MARTIN SCHWANKE
Currently working as a Data Centre senior Specialist for a utilities provider via HCLtech, managing BMS (Building Management System), Heat flow, cooling, Power, basically with a medium sized data hall running a variety of technologies with I.B.M. mainframe, Linux, and Windows, with Cisco infrastructure and Citrix servers across two sites, but also providing callout support for other groups on high priority incidents with swift SLA (Service Level Agreement) resolution required. I am studying A.I. generative methodology and also have Cyber Secure awareness.Formerly Providing a cost effective efficient defence I.T. service to the Royal Naval weapons training school, based at HMS Collingwood, my former role was to provide business continuity in information technology training systems, and maximize effectiveness to allow teaching of elite units for the armed forces in the UK. All I.T. Assets were \"Air Gapped\" providing a hardened layer of security. D.V. vetted S.C. level. I went on to become employed in a rewarding position, assisting large retail DIY chain stores, and a large estate of technology. working with many teams to bring the most effective service to the many employees at all levels in the business, earning some top class praise from customers, shareholders and the CEO, and forming lasting relationships. My job title in Kingfisher was Retail Support Engineer for TEAM End User Services (EUS), providing the best possible experience to our staff in stores and using remote access tools to diagnose faults, analyse issues and work effectively and efficiently with other teams in the Azure managed estate. Forming relationships with key staff and making the best possible decisions while not being able to see the set up (i.e. visualization of issues) and 30 plus years of professional I.T. experience helped me in this role, it was particularly challenging when Covid19 came along and was overnight converted from being present in office to becoming a hybrid role My Key Buzz word would be \"Be the best you can be everyday\" and some of my role involves tuition of staff that may have less knowledge of technology, I find tutoring people (who claim to sometimes be technology illiterate) and seeing them demonstrate what they can achieve in fixing issues first hand particularly rewarding. This trait of teaching extends to my external to work activity, of belonging to the Portsmouth Maritime Volunteering service, who take people in who have a love of boating and teach them to go on sometimes to develop sea going careers within the industry.
