About Martin Pierre

Dr. Pierre is a staff psychologist at Brandeis University Counseling Center. He served as the Co-Director of Behavioral Health at the Steward Carney Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. He is the co-founder of Ashmont Counseling Associates, a group practice that provides psychological services to children, families, and adult populations. Dr. Pierre served as the Mental Health Coordinator for Generation Excel, a faith-based non-profit agency that provided mental services to “at-risk” and “high-risk” children and adolescents. He has provided mental health services to the Boston Public Schools and the Community Re-Entry Centers (Division of Youth Services). He has also served as a clinician in the Metro Assessment Unit for the Department of Youth Services. He served as a Board Member for the Massachusetts Psychological Association. He formerly co-chaired the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs (MPA). In addition, he serves as a Board Member for the Boston Ten Point Coalition. He has written scholarly articles that examine the relationship between racial identity and psychological stress. He co-authored the script to “Red Monster”, a film that seeks to illuminate the racial and psychological dimensions of sexual trauma in the lives of urban, African-American men. The film has been adapted into a play a play titled \"Triggered\".

   Staff Psychologist: Provides counseling and crisis intervention for students in times of stress and deeper developmental issues. These issues range from stress and depression to substance abuse and eating disorders. In addition, provide on-call, brief assessments and urgent care to students. Furthermore, assist with outreach services to residential life, student organizations and student life departments. In addition, served as the co-chair for the Brandeis Counseling Center Multicultural Committee. The goal of the committee is to develop the multicultural mission and vision of the counseling center.
