Martin Schroeder has over 30 years of professional experience in the transit industry, including senior and director level positions in rail vehicle engineering, standards and federal regulations development, federal program management, railcar procurement and vehicle testing. He brings extensive technical and leadership experience in rail-vehicle design, structural fatigue life assessment, railcar crashworthiness, railcar wheel/rail interaction, state-of-good-repair, and technical specification review and development. He has managed major programs in procurement oversight, directed engineering programs on behalf of the industry, and provided industry peer reviews to over 20 transit agencies to assist in resolving difficult problems in engineering, procurement, project delivery, specification development and safety of operations. He is chairman of safety standards development initiatives for various industry standards development organizations and a former assistant professor of mechanical engineering. Manage projects for railcar procurement, engineering design review, technical analysis, oversight and guidance, and technical problem solving. Also, provide guidance on application of energy storage technologies; introduce and integrate technology innovation; and support vehicle and system procurements. Also perform technical reviews of vehicle and system design for transit and railroad applications, analyzing requirements and incorporating state-of-the-art practices. Lead structural design analysis and structural dynamics testing. Provide training in engineering data analysis, structural dynamics, project management and conflict resolution. Contract and Program Manager for a $40M on-call technical support contract with major rail authority to provide engineering and procurement support for a large fleet of passenger railcars and locomotives. Also lead reviews of Transit Operating and Maintenance Plans.
