Marty is the Founder of Franklinton Preparatory Academy, a grades 9-12 public high school located in the revitalized and electric Franklinton neighborhood of Columbus. Marty serves as FPA\'s Principal and Superintendent, guiding FPA from its launch in 2013 into its 6th year of operations. FPA is an innovative \"classes to careers\" school that claims its stake as the premier individualized high school education experience for students in Franklinton, the West Side and the Greater Columbus area. We are making a difference. Consider: In 2015, we graduated 6 students. That number grew to 22 in 2016, 26 in 2017 and 52 in 2018. As we approach our enrollment capacity, FPA expect to graduate at least 50 students per year. FPA is located in the beautifully renovated 1897 Chicago Avenue School and partners with local business and manufacturers in order to prepare our students for post-graduation success in one of our Four Pathways - college, trade schools, military serve and sustainable-living careers. Marty believes Art, Music and Movement are as essential to a complete education as STEM, Civics and History so FPA students enjoy the opportunity to pursue their interests in 2-d and 3-d Art, Steel Pan Band, Songwriting, Health and Nutrition, Yoga, Karate, Dance, Theater Creative Writing, Coding, Programming, and a myriad of other offerings driven in part by what our students tell us they want to learn about. With the addition of our 21st Century After-School Program, FPA is a transformative community epicenter for our students, families and the greater Franklinton community. Marty and his team develop innovative ways to partner with individuals, organizations, for profit and not-for-profit corporations and other entities similarly seeking to move the needle with our amazingly talented young people.
