ABOUT MARTIN ELCOATE

I am an experienced data protection professional working in the financial sector.I led the implementation of the GDPR for a financial business with in excess of 5m customers, for which I was their Data Protection Officer. In addition to my data protection expertise, I have a history of operational, client, programme and change management in the financial sector. I was a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty Of Actuaries up until August 2020.I am effective in identifying key data protection risks, providing pragmatic, business focused advice regarding the potential consequences of those risks and how to mitigate them, while developing data protection procedures, internal and external documentation and ways of working. In doing so I have worked closely with key stakeholders including COOs, CISO, CFO, Chief Risk Officer and other business leaders across multiple locations, both within and outside of the UK.Listed among the top 200 UK DPOs in 2019 (The DPO 200 in association with GDPR Institut recognises and celebrates those individuals who have made significant contributions to the privacy and security sectors.)Experienced Program Director with a demonstrated history of working in the Insurance industry.Skilled in Programme and Operations Management, Communication and Quality Assurance.Proven client management, financial risk management and communication skills in my role as a Scheme Actuary, during which time I provided actuarial advice to trustees and corporate sponsors of UK Defined Benefit Occupational Pension Schemes.
